The Chelsea full back might just be a rubbish football manager
Chelsea’s official site asked their Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta to pick his dream five-a-side of team-mates. Considering the players he has played with for club and country we expected a dazzling selection, pacekd with skill, steel and grace,
What we got instead was certainly memorable, but not for the reasons we expected.
Up front, things are standard enough. He slots Diego Costa in as a striker and he also goes for another Chelsea man, Eden Hazard, in an attacking role. So far, so good.
But in defence he plumps for Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal, who he played with at Osasuna, saying he is a good friend and good competitor. Monreal is decent but we reckon we’d have gone for Branislav Ivanovic ourselves.
However, it is these final selections that really set Azpilicueta’s team apart; he chooses two keepers. Saying he doesn’t want to choose he goes for Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois.
Quite how this team would line up, or how good Cech or Courtois would be out field, we don’t know but as five-a-side teams go, it has to be the oddest we’ve ever seen a professional player pick.
