‘Nurse, nurse, I think you’ve overdone it on the morphine because I can see the man who put me in this hospital bed giving me the thumbs up.’
But this is no hallucination. In fact Argentinos Junior midfielder Ezequiel Ham seemed happy enough to see Carlos Tevez, despite the former Manchester United and Manchester City striker snapping his leg like a twig on Saturday.
The Boca Juniors star was widely condemned for the stamp on the 21-year-old Ham’s shin. Tevez came out after the game insisting there was no intent and promising to apologise to his stricken opponent which – in fairness to the Argentina attacker who this season left Juventus to return home – he did in person.

While upset with the outcome of the 50-50 challenge, Tevez was unhappy with suggestion recklessness on his behalf caused the horrendous injury.
‘It makes me angry because I went for the ball. It was neither malicious nor my intention to hurt him.
‘The touch told me I’d done something wrong. I’m sad because I didn’t want to do anything bad to him. I’ve never hurt anyone, this is my first time.’
If you have the stomach for it, watch the footage from Boca’s 3-1 win and decide for yourself.
Ham’s Instagram post was captioned, ‘Thanks you Carlitos, for visiting’. You’re the bigger man, Ezequiel. Fair play.
