Liverpool have reportedly named their transfer fee for Caoimhín Kelleher

Robert Redmond

Kelleher has said he wants to be a number one goalkeeper.

Liverpool will reportedly allow Caoimhin Kelleher to leave if a club meets their asking price of £25m.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper became a valuable player under Jurgen Klopp, where he has been the backup goalkeeper to Alisson Becker.

Kelleher has been the Reds’ cup goalkeeper and made 10 appearances in the Premier League last season, deputising for Alisson when the Brazilian was injured.

The Irishman, 25, now looks ready to take the next step in his career after a series of impressive performances.

“I loved it. I thrived on it,” Kelleher told the Athletic about being a number one goalkeeper in Alisson’s absence.

“I’d been waiting for a moment like that. It was a massive opportunity for me to be Liverpool’s No.1 for that long.

“It was my time to show the level I believe I can perform at and the level people at the club think I’m able to play at.

“I proved that I’m good enough to play in the Premier League. I’m comfortable there. I’ve always had that belief in myself. Proving it to people was satisfying.”

Kelleher, who joined Liverpool as an academy player aged 16, has been linked with several clubs, with Nottingham Forest said to be keen on signing him this summer.

The Athletic report that Kelleher is ‘desperate’ to leave Anfield this summer, and be a number-one goalkeeper at another club

Liverpool want to keep Cork native but would be prepared to let him go if a club meets their valuation of £25m, according to reports.

Kelleher has made 47 appearances for the Reds and has won 14 caps for Ireland.
