Republic of Ireland forward Callum Robinson fired home a two goal brace as Preston thrashed Ipswich Town 4-0 at home.
Ipswich are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table and will face demotion to League One next season with just four wins from 44 games this term while Preston snapped a four-game losing streak thanks to braces from Robinson and Lukas Nmecha.
Preston’s four-game losing streak severely hampered the club’s chances of making the play-offs with North End currently seven points adrift of sixth place Middlesbrough but Robinson insisted they must look to finish the season strongly.
“We need to make sure we finish the season now in the right manner. It’s been a disappointing week but it was either going to go one way or the other with the teams we’ve been playing.
“For us, we’re all gutted that it hasn’t gone our way in there but we just need to kick on now, we’ve got four games left and we’ve got to get some wins under our belt and leave this season on a positive.”
