Callum O’Dowda signed for Bristol City on Wednesday evening.
The 21-year-old impressed in a substitute appearance against Belarus for the Republic of Ireland in May, and has joined from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee.
O’Dowda had come through the academy at the League Two side, and scored 10 goals in 50 appearances last season, but had had been the subject of interest from Championship clubs for the past few months.
The winger has signed a three-year contract at Aston Gate, and should now have the platform to put himself into Martin O’Neill’s thoughts ahead of the World Cup qualification campaign.
