‘He’s not what I’d want in a captain’
Roy Keane believes that Manchester United should strip Bruno Fernandes of the captaincy.
United fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat against neighbours Manchester City as they rarely looked like troubling the Premier League champions.
Erling Haaland was the star of the show and opened the scoring as he converted the penalty that was awarded by VAR after Rasmus Hojlund was adjudged to have pulled back Rodri in the box.
Haaland then doubled his and City’s tally early into the second half as he nodded home Bernardo Silva’s delicious cross.
Phil Foden then finished the game off as he got on the end of Haaland’s teasing ball to make sure of a brilliant win for the Premier League champions.
The home side looked a set of deflated figures inside an empty Old Trafford and as the Sky Sports team assessed the current state of the United squad, Keane singled out Fernandes’ attitude and called for the club to remove him of the armband.
Roy Keane on Bruno Fernandes
Roy Keane said: “After today, the first thing I’d do is take the captaincy off him [Bruno Fernandes].
“I know it’s a big decision, but he is not captain material.
“I think he’s a talented footballer and player, no doubt about it, but what I saw today with him again was him whinging. He’s throwing his arm up in the air and it really isn’t acceptable.
“I would take it off him. We talk about where they should make changes, I’d start with that and only the manager is capable of that.”
"He's the opposite to what I would want in a captain!"

Tough but, in the eyes of a growing number of United supporters, fair.
