Bruno Fernandes ‘ready’ to make FA Cup final last Man United outing

The player has hinted before that he will consider his options this summer.

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly ‘ready’ to make his Manchester United ‘swansong’ at the FA Cup Final against rivals Manchester City at the end of the month.

According to The Sun, the United captain is considering a move in the summer after four and a half years at the club.

The news comes as reports this week suggest that Saudi clubs are expecting up to 10 marquee signings this summer, with interest in Fernandes as well as United teammate Casemiro.

Fernandes has two more years left on his contract, with an option for a further year, making any possible deal in the summer an expensive and difficult one.

The 29-year-old would also be in high demand across Europe if he were to leave.

The Portuguese star has made it known earlier this month that he may look at his options after the Euros this summer.

In an interview with DAZN Portugal in April, Fernandes said: “Obviously, [the decision] doesn’t just depend on me, does it?

“A player always has to want to be here, but at the same time, you have to want him to stay. At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides.

“I’m not thinking too much about the future, not least because, obviously, this season hasn’t been at the level I’d hoped for, either individually or collectively, so far.

“So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros because nothing will be able to take my focus away from the FA Cup final and the Euros, as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”

Fernandes joined United in January 2020 and has scored 79 goals and provided 62 assists in his 230 games at the club.

On the latest episode of his FIVE podcast, ex-United legend Rio Ferdinand voiced his displeasure over fans wanting Fernandes out of the club after the disappointing season.

“All of you people who are saying ‘Bruno out,’ again I want humble pie eaten,” he said. “Because in the last couple of games, creativity has been a big issue for us.

“And without that man in our team, we don’t create noise, let alone chances. Trust me.

“So all these people who keep saying, ‘Yeah, but he’s not this, he’s not that.’ The guy creates chances, scores goals, but more importantly, he creates chances for others and makes other players look better.”

United are on course to finish in eight position after a lacklustre season under Eric ten Hag.

It has also been reported that the club may look to change manager during the summer, with the Dutchman encountering a number of problems controlling his squad this year.
