Brighton new boy Richie Towell still a Euro 2016 long shot

If you get these bets right you could have the flights and accommodation sorted for Euro 2016 in no time.

Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane have some decisions to make ahead of next summer and there will be some very anxious Irish footballers hoping for that all important call next May.

The Republic of Ireland manager must select a 23-man squad to board the plane for the short hop to France.

We are not so overburdened with talent that a great deal of the squad does not pick itself, but everyone loves a bolter.

Richie Towell’s switch to Brighton in recent days means that he could be brushing up on his French for next summer but there could be several other midfielders blocking his way to the Ireland squad.

Towell has no senior Irish caps but as top scorer in the SSE Airtricty League and with his move possibly coinciding with Brighton securing promotion from the Championship, we’ve asked the kind folk at Ladbrokes for the odds on various Irish midfielders making the squad next summer.

Richie may need to hit the ground running at the Amex in January as he’s priced at 8/1 for a seat on the plane.

Unfortunately for Richie, Ladbrokes rate the chances of Paul Green or Alan Judge checking into Dublin airport next summer much more likely than that of the ex-Celtic man, with Green at 5/2 while Judge, who secured a man-of-the-match award for Brendtford last night, at 3/1

The odds will change of course as we get nearer to the deadline next summer but it’s certainly interesting to see who, if any, of those above make the plane.
