Dublin GAA legend to lend a helping hand to Damien Duff and Shelbourne

“He’ll be terrible at the speaking thing, you should just leave him run.”

A second Dublin All-Ireland winner is due to join the ranks at Shelbourne, with striker Seán Boys revealing that Brian Fenton will be helping out the League of Ireland champions.

Fenton is considered one of the greatest players of his generation, with seven All-Ireland titles, and two Footballer of the Year awards.

This comes after the news that fellow All-Ireland winner Tomás ‘Mossy’ Quinn will soon become the new CEO at Shels.

One of manager Damien Duff’s methods last season was to call on the help of sporting icons, such as Ian McGeechan and Jose Mourinho who sent messages to the squad.

With Fenton, however, they will be getting hands-on experience.

Boyd explained: “That’s what he [Duff] does, he picks people and wants you to pick their brains and get as much information as possible.

“Brian [Fenton] is going to come in for a day and run with us and speak with us.

“A couple of lads know Brian and were [saying], ‘He’ll be terrible at the speaking thing, you should just leave him run’.

“Come here, it’s very interesting. I think he [Duff] is on a bit of a GAA buzz at the minute, so I’d say there will be a couple coming in.”

Shelbourne kick-off their League of Ireland defence at home to Derry City on February 14.
