Brendan Rodgers rubbishes unrest comments (made by Brendan Rodgers)

It isn't the first time he's done this

Conan Doherty

Ah, Brendan.  This season is going from bad to worse.

Well, that will happen when you’re rubbishing comments… made by yourself.

The Liverpool boss heads into what could yet be a season-defining clash with Championship-toppers Bournemouth tomorrow night and the pressure is building.  The Merseyside men travel south – although Rodgers will probably tell us next week that it was in Glasgow – for an increasingly vital League Cup quarter final tie.  The Anfield outfit have already watched their Champions League and Premier League hopes all but die after the club’s worst start to a season in 50 years.

And, with the weight of the Kop on his shoulders, Rodgers is starting continuing to contradict himself.

Just yesterday, he hinted about unrest in the Liverpool dressing room.  Today, he has come out and said that rumours of unrest in the Liverpool dressing room are complete nonsense.  And it isn’t the first time he’s done this either…

December 15, 2014
“In every dressing room there have always been issues, but it is not something I discuss outside of the dressing room.”
December 16, 2014
“Our dressing room is very strong. Our captain is a strong leader. Anything said about any unrest is totally untrue.”

July 31, 2013
“The environment that we’re creating is that the star will always be the team. We want to have top players here but if for whatever reason we don’t, we will always know we can rely on the team and each other.”
August 16, 2014
“I think we had a star player who was part of the collective. Luis had a great talent but the team was the important thing. The players Liverpool had signed to replace him would take their place gradually.  It’s not a new team, it’s an evolving team.”
December 12, 2014
“The team’s natural progression has stalled this summer with the departure of Luis Suarez and the arrival of new players.”

August 17, 2014
“I think so [the squad will be stronger this year], with the players we’ve brought in.  No disrespect – he [Luis Suarez] is a great player and will be missed – but we move on.”
October 3, 2014
“There was big change here in the summer and we lost a world class player.  It brings us into a little period of transition.”

August 2, 2014
“The new players have settled in quickly. That’s a great credit not just to them but to the team.”
December 12, 2014
“This has been a difficult start with new players, less coaching time, young players; we are virtually starting again.”

December 18, 2013
“It (Jordan Henderson) was a great buy by Kenny.  He’s 23, he’s six foot one, he can run all day and technically he’s very strong.  He’s a terrific player.”
November 7, 2012
“When the manager told me I could go to Fulham it was a bit of a shock at first.  What he said came as a sort of bolt from the blue.” (Jordan Henderson)

December 1, 2014
“I love working with Steven Gerrard, he’s arguably the best player who’s ever played in the Premier League.”

BRod all-time PL

In fairness, that’s a superb team right there.  But lest we forget one final quote which could be the biggest bullet in Brendan Rodgers’ tiki-taka foot.
