Brendan Rodgers only has five problems with Celtic’s next Champions League tie

Celtic face a long trip for their next Champions League tie.

The Scottish champions cruised past Lincoln Red Imps on Wednesday night in their Champions League second-round qualifier.

Celtic overcame a 1-0 first-leg deficit to win 3-0 at Celtic Park against the part-timers from Gibraltar, with goals from Mikael Lustig, Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts.

Thoughts now turn to Celtic’s next opponents in Europe’s top club competition – FC Astana.

The team from Kazakhstan qualified for the Champions League group stage last season, and will represent a tricky tie for Celtic

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was asked about the problems that his side face next Wednesday in their first-leg, and replied, somewhat tongue-in-cheek:

“Apart from the six-hour flight, and the five-hour time difference and the 35-degree heat and the plastic pitch, with no water, it should be all right.”

“But it is what is thrown at us. I think you just need to adjust, we will probably fly out on the Monday, the game is on the Wednesday and just prepare the best we can.

“We have to find a way to get a performance and a result.”

Before Celtic’s game next Wednesday, they’ll play a friendly against Premier League champions Leicester City at Celtic Park on Saturday.
