Brendan Rodgers may have gone too far with his praise for Luis Suarez

Jesus, calm down Brodge...

Brendan Rodgers has showered praise on Luis Suarez ahead of their reunion at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.

Barcelona host Celtic in the Champions League tie, and Luis Suarez will be looking to put a few past his former manager’s team.

Rodgers worked with the Uruguayan striker for two years at Liverpool, and the pair almost won the Premier League title before Suarez joined Barcelona in 2014 and the wheels came off Rodgers’ Liverpool side.

But when it worked at Liverpool, Rodgers’ team were a joy to watch and it’s no wonder the Northern Irishman has happy memories of his former player.

However, we reckon he may have gone just a bit too far with his praise ahead of Tuesday’s game.

“Luis Suarez is one of the most beautiful men you can come across,” Rodgers said.

“He’s humble and works tirelessly. He’s super professional, a family man, and he gives everything for his life as footballer.

“I had the pleasure of working with him as a human being and as footballer he’s one of the best in the world.

“He came to a world class team and made them better. Barca would not be the same without him in the team.”

While we agree that Suarez is a brilliant player, who has improved a world class Barcelona team, and that he possesses a strong work ethic, it’s arguably a bit over-the-top to call Suarez “one of the most beautiful men you can come across.”

It’s reminiscent of the time Lionel Hutz told Homer Simpson he was “the greatest hero in American history.”
