With many expecting a significant development on the future of Louis van Gaal, it has emerged that the Dutchman has not offered his resignation.
Reports on Monday implied that Van Gaal had informed Ed Woodward that he wished to resign after the loss to Southampton, only to be asked to reconsider his decision.
These reports have no been rubbished by “senior sources” close to the club and Van Gaal has returned to the United training ground in preparation for Friday’s FA Cup tie at Derby, following a brief trip back to the Netherlands for his daughter’s birthday.
Woodward – who many had claimed was in Manchester – is said to be seeing to club commitments in London.
For now at least, there is no official word from the club on their manager’s future, although if this development is to be believed, he’s not going to be departing any time soon.
The Dutch paper De Telegraaf report that the Manchester United players are split over the support for Van Gaal.
According to De Telegraaf, Woodward has met with Rooney. There's a division in the squad. Some players still supporting LvG, others aren't
