"We're all shocked"

Fortunately, it seems nobody was seriously injured following the explosions which occurred near Borussia Dortmund’s team bus on Tuesday afternoon.

Defender Marc Bartra is understood to have been treated in hospital for cuts on his arm, believed to have been caused by fragments of glass from the coach’s window.

Goalkeeper Roman Burki was sitting next to him at the back of the bus when the incident took place, and has now given his account of what happened to German media.

“We left the hotel at 7:15 pm and went down the street,” Burki told Blick (translated by the Mirror). “The bus turned to the main street, when there was a giant explosion.”

“I was sitting in the back row next to Marc Bartra, who was hit by fragments.

“After the bang, we all ducked in the bus and those who could went on the ground. We did not know if more happened. The police were quick on the spot, they were safe. We’re all shocked – nobody thought of a football match in the minute. ”

Dortmund were on their way to their home game with Monaco at the time, a game which has been postponed and will now take place on Wednesday afternoon.
