Belgium has been rocked with the news that another one of its young footballers has tragically died.
Lower-league player Tim Nicot has become the second Belgian footballer to die of cardiac arrest in the last two weeks.
The 23-year-old left-back, who played for fourth-tier outfit Wilrijk-Beerschot was playing in a tournament in Hemiksem when he collapsed on the field on Friday.
He was placed in an induced coma and his club confirmed that the player died in hospital on Monday.
This comes less than a fortnight after 24-year-old defender Gregory Mertens died after collapsing during a reserve game for Lokeren. Like Nicot, Mertens was also induced into a coma but died after his condition deteriorated in hospital.
