Bayern Munich are reportedly discussing the prospect of making an approach for Erik ten Hag.
The Bundesliga outfit are looking for someone to replace Thomas Tuchel, who will depart at the end of the season.
Earlier this week it had appeared that Ralf Rangnick would be the chosen replacement before he made a U-turn on his decision and stay on as Austria's national team head coach.
Now, according to German outlet Bild, Ten Hag is the next name to be discussed among the Bayern hierarchy.
It's been a disappointing campaign for the Dutchman as Manchester United look almost certain to miss out on Champions League football.
As well as missing out on a top four spot, the Red Devils' only hopes of any silverware lie in the FA Cup, where they face neighbours Manchester City in the final.
United are also planning to make wholesale changes with the playing staff, sparking doubts about Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag also had a stint at Bayern in charge of the club's second team and may be tempted at a chance of leading the senior side.
There's also rumours of a return to Ajax, but they are far more pessimistic about their chances.
There is every possibility that there could be a swap of roles in the summer, with Man United supposedly keen to appoint Tuchel.
Tuchel is rumoured to be interested and has already had talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe but has informed the club that he doesn't want to be in contact with the Premier League side until his Bayern side have faced Real Madrid.
Bayern play the second leg of their Champions League semi final next Wednesday, travelling to Madrid after drawing the first leg 2-2.
