Bastian Schweinsteiger gets a hell of a reception as he arrives in Chicago

Paul Moore

That’s some welcome party for the former Bayern Munich and Manchester United man.

There will always be respect and admiration for Bastian Schweinsteiger from the red half of Manchester because, despite his limited time on the pitch, he didn’t throw his toys out of the pram and openly pine for a move.

The World Cup winner has now left Manchester United for Chicago Fire, and a reported pay packet of $86,500 a week.

In truth, Schweinsteiger’s  days were numbered from the moment Jose Mourinho became manager, but it appears that the Chicago Fire fans have plenty of faith in their new signing.

Here’s hoping that his career enjoys a resurgence in the MLS.  Take a look at these scenes.

Still though, it’s not as impressive as the turnout for Darius Vassell when he signed for Ankaragücü. That was insane.
