Barack Obama told Robbie Keane something very complimentary about Ireland at the White House yesterday

He likes us, he really likes us

Robbie Keane has revealed what he and Obama spoke about yesterday and it was all about Obama’s visit to Ireland

As we mentioned yesterday, Robbie Keane has probably met Barack Obama more often than Enda Kenny in recent years. Thanks to three titles in four years, the LA Galaxy have been regular visitors to the White House and they were there yesterday as a reward for the 2014 MLS title.

Of course, front and centre was our Robbie, the reigning League MVP and the two men had a quick chat after the President was presented with a LA Galaxy shirt.

Now, thanks to LA Galaxy, we know what Robbie and Obama spoke about.

“We spoke about when he was in Ireland in 2011 and I got to meet him. He gave a great speech there and said, ‘Is féidir linn’ which means ‘Yes we can’ [in Irish Gaelic]. I said that back to him and he said without any hesitation, ‘Yes we can.’ That was a real moment for me.”

Keane also said that Obama said of Ireland that, “there’s no place I enjoyed the people more, everybody’s always so gracious.”

We bet he says that to all the MVPs
