Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has lambasted Real Madrid fans for booing the winger during Saturday’s El Clasico between Real and Barcelona.
The Welsh international was hauled off for Marco Asensio in the 62nd minute and was whistled and jeered by Madrid’s fans during the substitution which, in times gone by, is typically a sign a player’s career with the Galacticos may be coming to an end.

Barnett blasted the Madrid fans and claimed that they should be kissing his feet rather than jeering him.
“This generation of Real fans will be talking about Gareth’s goals for years to come,” he told Sky Sports. “Frankly they should be ashamed of themselves.
“Gareth deserves the greatest of respect. The way the Real fans have treated Gareth is nothing short of a disgrace. In the six years he has been in Spain, he has won everything. He’s one of the best players in the world. Those fans should be kissing his feet.”
Bale made headlines last month for refusing to celebrate his matchwinner against Levante and there have been reports in the Spanish press that he has struggled to learn Spanish and that he does not socialise with his teammates.
Barnett dismissed the claims and insisted that the former Spurs winger would be staying at the Bernabeu this summer.
“Despite what the Spanish press are reporting, he’s happy, he speaks reasonable Spanish and there is no problem between him and the rest of the Real players. The people writing these things know nothing about him.
“There has not been one single discussion about Gareth leaving Madrid. He isn’t going anywhere this summer. Despite what’s been reported, he’s content, he wants to stay at Real and they want him.”
