Arsene Wenger confirms he will not resign this summer

Not walking away

Rumours of Arsene Wenger’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

With Arsenal falling short of Premier League glory for another year, their long-serving manager has come under fire from sections of the media and the club’s fanbase.

But he has reiterated that he has no plans to leave his post at the end of the season, regardless of the volume of complaints against his suitability for the role.

The Frenchman’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2016/17 season, but fans will likely be keen for him to significantly bolster the squad over the summer.

This is despite claims from the man himself that summer spending will be “limited” as “it’s not obvious to find the players despite the money the English clubs will have”.

The Gunners are currently locked in a battle for mere Champions League qualification, having been top of the league in mid-January.

Arsenal fans have been quick to respond to Wenger’s latest comments, made ahead of Thursday’s league clash with West Bromwich Albion, and there’s a good deal of negativity.
