Arsenal’s title ambitions hit by further injury setback to key midfielder

Jack's not back

Kevin McGillicuddy

Arsenal could probably do with some Christmas cheer after Saturday’s thumping by Southampton.

But there is very little good news coming from their treatment room at least as Jack Wilshire has been ruled out of action for another six weeks at least.

The England midfielder has been plagued with injury this year, having missed the entire campaign so far after a fracture to his leg in pre-season.

It was hoped he would be ready to play in early 2016, but Arsene Wenger has all but ruled out that possibility as he chatted to the press ahead of today’s game with Bournemouth

‘He will not be back before February, that’s for sure. I said February but honestly I don’t know.”

‘I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly. Once he goes again, goes outside to train, once he is back again into sharp, hard work physically, you count five or six weeks, so at the moment he is not there yet.
