Romford Pelé is not convinced.
Just about everybody that has a shred of interest in football would agree that Manchester United splashed too much cash on new signing Anthony Martial.
11 goals in 52 league games, uncapped for his country and only 19-years-old – hardly the criteria for paying £36m to Monaco for.
Martial has earned his first two French caps since his big money move and will be hoping to feature, for United, against Liverpool this weekend.
Not all are convinced United have spent wisely.
On Sky Sports, this morning, former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour commented, ‘Will Martial succeed? I look forward to seeing him play, but I think it’s going to be a miss, because the money they’ve spent is an unbelievable amount.
‘For a 19-year-old kid, he’s not proven. If he proves to be like a Thierry Henry, which is what a lot of people are saying, then he could obviously be a great signing, but I think it is a massive gamble to take.’
‘With the money they’ve put out,’ Parlour added, ‘I could be totally wrong, but I’m going to say miss on that one.’
