Hit the road, Jack
Arsenal have been hit with a major blow ahead of Saturday’s start of the Premier League season with the news that midfielder Jack Wilshere is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in training.
The accident in training is said to have occurred after a collision with Brazilian defender Gabriel, who has since been subjected to a fair amount of abuse from so-called Arsenal fans on Twitter.
It’s the latest in a long line of injuries to affect Wilshere’s career, but Arsene Wenger is predicting that the England international will be back in action “in a few weeks”.
“The information you have heard about Jack Wilshere is right,” Wenger told Arsenal.com. “I had a bad surprise because it is a hairline crack in his fibula that makes him a few weeks out.
“There is minimal damage apart from the bone damage – there is no damage at all apart from that. It was a collision in training and it was all completely accidental.”
That didn’t stop certain Arsenal ‘fans’ tweeting abuse at the Brazilian, whose tackle is said to have caused Wilshere’s injury (we’ve blocked out their names to protect their ‘modesty’, though they really don’t deserve it).
Thankfully some right-minded Arsenal fans have come to Gabriel’s defence.
The 'so called' @Arsenal fans hating on @gpaulista5 are the epitome of the element that we don't want or need at my historic club. Disgrace!

Wishing Wilshere the speediest of recoveries and Gabriel to continue being fierce in a tackle.
Anyone abusing Gabriel on Twitter is a knob.
