Arsenal have completed the signings of William Saliba from Saint-Etienne and Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.
Saliba will spend a season back on loan at Saint-Etienne before joining the Gunners the following summer while Ceballos joins the club on a season-long loan from Madrid.
The attacking midfielder will wear the number 8 shirt for the club and helped guide Spain to a European Under-21 Championship win earlier this summer.
Manager Unai Emery said of the signing: “We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision.”
Meanwhile Saliba made his professional debut with Saint-Etienne in a 3–2 Ligue 1 win over Toulouse on September 25, 2018 and was recently called up to the French U20 squad.
Emery said of the Saliba signing:
“We’re delighted William is joining us. Many teams wanted him but he decided he wanted to come to us and be part of our future. He will stay in France next season for more experience and then we look forward to him joining our group.”
Arsenal’s sole signing prior to the acquisitions of Ceballos and Saliba was Gabriel Martinelli who scored a goal in his club debut against the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday.
