Arsenal’s failed bid for Alexandre Lacazette has not gone down well with Gooners.
In a somewhat unusual move, Olympique Lyonnais have taken to social media to confirm that they have rejected a €35 million bid from Arsenal for Lacazette.
Arsenal are looking for a new striker and many feel like the Frenchman might be exactly what they need after he found lethal form in Ligue 1 scoring 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season with only Zlatan Ibrahimovic finding the net more.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Lyon refuted the claims made by local paper Le Progres that the North London club made a bid of €48m for the sharpshooter before explaining that he is “irreplaceable” and therefore, not for sale.

While one might think that Arsenal fans would be thrilled that the club are finally trying to land a new striker, the reaction from Gooners has not been positive.
Many feel that the bid was far too low for a player of Lacazette’s ability with some even claiming that Arsenal made a bid they knew wouldn’t get accepted just so it appears as if they were trying to sign the player.
Others criticised the club for making a bid lower than the one West Ham made for the player that was rejected earlier in the year. However, reports at the time suggested Lacazette would only leave Lyon for a club in the Champions League, which may explain why Arsenal went lower with their bid.
So West Ham bid for Lacazette and it got rejected then Arsenal bid less. Pointless.

Why a club in the position that Arsenal is, doesn't just pay the £50m for Lacazette is awful. No excuses with their ticket sales/income etc.

No way Arsenal will buy Lacazette for €35m. They would have to give at least €50m.

I could have told @Arsenal you won't get Lacazette for that amount. The lack of aggression in the market is mind boggling.
Token bids.

Pretty sure West Ham had a bigger bid rejected for him 2 months ago? Exactly that, token bids to look active to fans
