Someone must have been looking out for Antoine Griezmann’s sister on Friday night.

The sibling of the Atletico Madrid star escaped a hostage crisis at the Bataclan concert hall, where it is thought that over 100 people died.

She was attending a concert of Californian rock band the Eagles of Death Metal at the venue, while Griezmann was playing for his country at the Stade de France against Germany. Attendees at the gig were held at gunpoint until security forces were sent to end the siege.

Explosions were heard as concert goers escaped the 1,500 concert hall.

More than 120 people are believed to have lost their lives across six locations in the French capital during a devastating attack on Friday night.

Before knowing about the whereabouts of his sister, Griezmann tweeted: “Big thought for the victims of the attacks. God takes care of my sister and the French.”

He confirmed three hours later that she had escaped the venue and she is safe and well.

“Thanks God my sister was able to exit the Bataclan. All my prayers go to the victims and their families.”
