Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward remain at odds over Anthony Martial, according to reports in France.
The relationship between Mourinho and Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman has reportedly been deteriorating since the summer, when Woodward failed to bring in any of the targeted central defenders.
French outlet RMC Sport insist that Martial is behind the rift because, apparently, Woodward refused to sell the forward despite the requests of both the player and his manager.
Mourinho wanted rid of Martial in the transfer window in order to free up funds to bring in a defender and the 22-year-old was eager to leave too, with his agent insisting that there was no way back two months ago.
Woodward reportedly rejected approaches from both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid for Martial because he personally feels like the youngster will develop into a world-class talent.
The report claims that Mourinho attempted to persuade Woodward to part ways with Martial in a deal with either Chelsea or Spurs which would have seen Willian or Toby Alderweireld move to Old Trafford.
Mourinho recently singled out Martial in the press by admitting that he was the only United player to have been fined during his spell in charge of the Red Devils.
