There hasn’t been much drama on the pitch at Liverpool recently, but there’s been plenty of action off the pitch.
And this will go down as one of the strangest uses of the Sky Sports News Breaking News ticker that anyone can remember – and that’s really saying something.
According to Sky Sports two men went missing at 1.30pm this afternoon during a stadium tour of Anfield and as a result the ground has been evacuated.
It’s not clear how many people are working at Anfield on a non-matchday, but they have been told to leave as the police are now in attendance looking for the missing men.
Suggestions that the bomb squad have been called to Anfield have not been confirmed, though Merseyside Police said they were called following “security concerns” at Anfield.
A spokesman said: “Merseyside Police can confirm officers are in attendance following security concerns at Anfield Stadium today.
“As a precautionary measure, the club has evacuated the stadium and officers are now carrying out enquiries at the scene.”
