Liverpool defender Andy Robertson calls out Neymar over his diving

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has said that it’s frustrating to see Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar fall down so easily.

The Brazilian is famous for going to ground with incredible ease and he spent over 14 minutes on the turf during four matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia during the summer.

Robertson got into it with Neymar during Liverpool’s 2-1 loss and said afterwards that the Reds should have done a better job at dealing with his theatrics.

“I suppose they were in the lead and they were looking to waste time. You can use gamesmanship, play-acting, you can use it all really,” Robertson told Sky Sports News.

“I would like to know how much time they wasted tonight. It’s frustrating when [Neymar] is falling like he is.

“It’s all part and parcel of his game and we needed to deal with that. We didn’t quite control our aggression.

“Of course it was frustrating. But when you play against PSG you know it is something you are going to come up against especially with him. It wasn’t something we quite dealt with tonight.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also singled out Neymar for criticism and added that the Parisians made the visitors look like butchers.

“I know it will be the headline,” Klopp said, “but the number of interruptions in the game was not cool.

“We won the fair play award two times in England and tonight we looked like butchers with the number of yellow cards.

“It was clever of PSG, especially Neymar, but a lot of other players went down like there was something serious.

“We were not that calm anymore, rather frustrated and negative frustration does not help. That is a job for us to deal with.”
