Onana criticised the defender during their game against Borussia Dortmund
Andre Onana was left fuming with Harry Maguire during Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring for the Red Devils before they conceded two goals in two minutes, via Donyell Malen. United then levelled though Antony but youngster Youssoufa Moukoko scored the winner in the 71st minute after Aaron Wan Bissaka surrendered possession easily.
Onana was introduced in the second half as a replacement for Tom Heaton and was called into action, making a strong save to Sebastien Haller before getting up in time to put off Karim Adeyemi, who put his rebounded effort wide.
Although the chance didn’t result in a goal, Onana couldn’t hide his anger with Maguire after giving up a poor pass that allowed Dortmund to counter and attack.
Sprinting out of his goal, the Cameroonian screamed in the face of the centre back, who reacted quietly.

Harry Maguire ‘easy target’ for Andre Onana
After the incident went viral on social media, TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor admitted he didn’t agree with the reaction of Andre Onana to “easy target” Harry Maguire.
He said: “First of all, Harry Maguire didn’t do anything wrong.
“He played a ball to a midfielder and the midfielder gave it away. And I feel like he’s an easy target. I don’t like that from Onana. Are you doing that to [Lisandro] Martinez? Are you running after [Marcus] Rashford like that? I don’t think you are.
“Maguire’s an easy target so I didn’t like the look of that. I understand it if it was a big mistake and it cost a goal or it’s Harry Maguire’s fault. Fair enough. But I want to see that same energy for every player.
“Maguire is going through that phase now with Man Utd fans on social media [saying] ‘leave, leave, leave.’
“He’s not going to react to [Onana] Harry Maguire. He’s thinking, ‘Keep a low profile because I want to fight for my place’. So I didn’t like it and it wasn’t even a mistake from Harry Maguire.”
After the game, Andre Onana said it was a pleasure to play with ‘great players’ like Maguire and Lisandro Martinez. He said he ‘demanded a lot’ from him and that Maguire was ‘a great guy’.
