Ander Herrera will cement his place in the hearts of Manchester United fans if these rumours are true

He'll be even more popular now

Ander Herrera is loved in Manchester.

With good reason too, he’s a brilliant midfielder and he was one of the few shining lights for the club this season.

He may well become the club captain if Wayne Rooney is to leave this summer and has given fans plenty of reason to love him.

Whether it was from indirectly setting up Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal in the Europa League Final, or his tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack, or this video, the man’s popularity knows no bounds.

And after winning the club’s Player of the Year award, there is no doubt that he has attracted interested from other top clubs.

One team that has reportedly taken interest in the Spaniard is Barcelona.

However, according to The TelegraphHerrera has no intentions of leaving for the Catalan side.

With only a year left on his contract, question marks could be raised as to whether United would cash in on the 27-year-old but they do have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months and are thought to be willing to offer him a long-term contract.

Herrera would be deserving of it too after a man of the match performance in the final against Ajax and the overall thrust and tenacity of his play from midfield.
