Where in the world is Carmen San Diego… eh, I mean, Steve Finnan.
Next Monday, the ECHO Arena in Liverpool is set to host the Istanbul Reunion night to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Liverpool’s famous Champions League triumph in the Turkish city.
The entire Liverpool matchday squad from Istanbul has been invited to the event (yes, that includes Djimi Traore), except for one notable absentee.
Former Irish international Steve Finnan has not received his invitation yet because he simply can’t be tracked down.
Finnan played the first half at Istanbul before being substituted off with injury, but was key member of the squad having played in all but one Champions League match before the final.
The right-back played 217 games for the Reds and scored just the one goal for the side, coming against West Bromwich Albion.
He also appeared in a League Cup final, an FA Cup final and another Champions League final for the Liverpool before making the switch to Espanyol in 2008.
Finnan then moved to Portsmouth in 2009 and played his final match as a professional in the 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea. However, he has seemingly fallen off the grid since retiring.
So please, if anyone sees Finnan out and about, please tell him to make his way to ECHO arena on Monday.
