“Good guys, they never win.”
Jose Mourinho and yellow cards. He can probably recite who, when, where and how in his sleep.
The latest release of episodes from Amazon Prime’s All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur docu-series was full of drama. As the season reached its busiest point, with games coming thick and fast and the transfer window approaching, it was mayhem at Hotspur Way.
Viewers were most engaged by Mourinho’s half-time team talk during their match against Manchester City. It was 0-0 at the break and Mourinho felt that his team were not being aggressive enough (I’m not sure he has ever once been satisfied with the levels of aggression shown by his players.)
Highlighting the moment City players put huge pressure on the referee for a penalty to be given immediately following a missed spot kick, Mourinho offered his players a timeless piece of advice:
“This is the difference between a team of c**** and a team of good guys.
“But the story of football is that the teams of good guys, they never win.
“So f***ing hell. Be a c***.”

Mourinho also tells his troops that City would be well aware of Toby Alderweireld being on a yellow card, and that they would try to exploit that. He then turns to a board with the City XI on it and, slamming it each time, informs his players that Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all been booked in the first half.
Spurs went on to win the game 2-0 thanks to goals from debutant Steven Bergwijn and Heung-min Son, getting Zinchenko sent off the in the process.
Fans of all clubs appeared to enjoy this scene, with many finding a new appreciation of Jose’s brutally honest management style.
The Man City 2-0 win segment of the Amazon doc was the best part so far by a mile. That team talk from Mourinho gave me goosebumps – “the story of football is that the team of good guys… they never win. So fucking hell – be a cunt!” 😂
