SPOILER ALERT - It's not North London

Arsene Wenger may be hanging around for another two years, at least, but his pair of star players have their hearts set on the exit door.

It always seemed like both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez would call time on their respective Arsenal careers before long and while one is reportedly content to see out his contract at the Emirates before leaving next year, the other is determined to move on this summer.

According to the Times, Ozil will reassess his options throughout next season and prove his ability to potential suitors but Sanchez has already decided where he wants to play his football after the summer.

The report claims that the forward, who was Arsenal’s top scorer in the season just gone, has opted to join Bayern Munich in the transfer window.

The likes of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City were all thought to be monitoring the Chile international but his eyes are fixed on the Bundesliga champions.

The Gunners continue to cling to the hope that their star duo will make a U-turn and sign new contracts, believed to be worth £280,000 each, but that seems unlikely, particularly in Sanchez’s case.

Sanchez was already listed as a Bayern player in Chile’s squad announcement for the Confederations Cup which led supporters to believe that his departure to Carlo Ancelotti’s side was something of a foregone conclusion.

Sanchez’s international compatriot, Arturo Vidal, continues to try to convince the 28-year-old to move to the Allianz Arena with some very public encouragement.

“I’ve told him that it’s a great opportunity for him to play for a big club,” Vidal told reporters in Chile, via ESPN.

“If you want to test yourself against the best, you need to play for the best team.”
