Alex Ferguson has one big regret from his time as Manchester United manager

13 Premier Leagues, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues.

And still Alex Ferguson wasn’t fully satisfied.

Ferguson is the most decorated football manager of all time but such is his perfectionism that he still regrets that he wasn’t able to add to his barely believable trophy haul.

Regrets must be few and far between for the Manchester United legend but there remains one big one in Ferguson’s mind.

Since retiring in 2013, the Scot has had more than enough time to dwell on the heartbreaking near-misses he’s overseen throughout his career.

And this week, Ferguson revealed the biggest regret he has from his time in charge of the Red Devils.

“The one I really regret was not taking Manchester United to the final in 2002,” Ferguson said at Glasgow’s Euro 2020 logo launch on Tuesday.

“The whole build up was about getting to the final in Glasgow, but we lost the semi-final to Leverkusen.

“We were a bit unlucky, we ran out of time! The referee couldn’t understand my time and his time!”

It’s good to see Fergie hasn’t changed one little bit.
