‘It’s not the end, only the beginning…’

Life goes on for Ajax. Not even 24 hours on from their heartbreaking Champions League exit at the hands of Tottenham, the Amsterdam club are already looking ahead to next season.

Having posted a defiant video in response to their crushing last-gasp semi-final defeat, the Dutch club also officially unveiled their home kit for the 2019/2020 season.

‘Here’s to the future,’ read the post accompanying pictures of the new kit on adidas Football’s Instagram.

The shirt, which is said to be inspired by Amsterdam, sticks to the traditional design – white, with a thick red stripe running vertically through its middle.

The three adidas stripes are no longer on the shoulders but run along the side of the shirt, beneath the sleeves. It also features a new crew-neck design, with black trim added to the back of it.

The club crest, adidas logo and shirt sponsor, Ziggo, all appear in white on its front.

The women’s shirt is an almost identical design, though features ABN AMRO, the former sponsor of the men’s side, running vertically up the red part of the shirt.

adidas Football also posted a video, featuring several of the club’s stars, which promised ‘It’s not the end, only the beginning.’

Despite this, Ajax’s talented side is widely expected to be picked apart over the summer. Frenkie de Jong has already finalised a summer move to Barcelona with Matthijs de Ligt expected to follow him to the Nou Camp.

Donny van de Beek, a scorer of the only goal in Ajax’s first leg against Spurs last week, has also been linked with a move away from the club.
