Footballer Adam Johnson is awaiting sentence for child sex offences – but some supporters are still backing him.
The former Sunderland and England man was told to expect a lengthy jail term by judges in the crown court trial which saw the 28-year-old convicted of one count of sexual activity with a child and plead guilty to a further count and another of grooming.
But while Johnson awaits his fate, a new Facebook page has appeared after the ‘Justice for Johnson’ page, set up by his supporters, was banned by the social network.
The new Adam Johnson’s Appeal Fight page contains a poem which appears to have been shared by Johnson’s sister Faye, who supported her disgraced brother through his child sex trial.

Johnson, who will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court later this month, has faced an enormous backlash of anger and derision following his conviction for child sex crimes.
He has been erased from football games like Pro Evolution Soccer, Football Manager and FIFA 16 and now Sunderland are offering a shirt amnesty for any fans who bought a shirt bearing his name.
Following Johnson’s conviction, his victim released a powerful statement saying she felt ‘used and let down’ by her ‘hero’ and said her life had been turned upside down.
