That is the sound of the transfer window’s shutters being readied for next week as the deadline for getting deals done before it shuts until January gets ever closer.

However, two clubs who are hopeful of keeping it on the latch for a while longer are Real Madrid and Manchester United, as they look to finally sort out the David de Gea deal.

The goalkeeper by all accounts is set to sign for Madrid eventually, but whether he goes on a free next summer or the clubs come to an arrangement in the coming days is the big stumbling block.

Manchester United have been linked with several replacement ‘keepers for de Gea if he does leave, but it seems now that the current Real Madrid number one is the big stumbling block in the move.

Spanish journalist Spanish journalist Guillem Balague was speaking on Sky’s La Liga coverage tonight and explained that no price has ever been discussed between both clubs and that Keylor Navas may be used as make-weight in any possible switch.

The only problem being Navas has no desire to leave Spain or be part of a swap deal

“According to Real Madrid Manchester United have not out a price on David De Gea. Secondly Jorge Mendes, who’s acting as an intermediary in the deal, expects United to put a price on the last day, on Monday.”

“If it is €40million, Real Madrid would like Keylor Navas to go Manchester United and reduce that fee by around €10million.”

“The problem is that Keylor Navas doesn’t want to go, so how they are going to put all that together we just don’t know. So if it is €40million Madrid may wait until the summer to get him for free.”

Reports tomorrow suggest the two clubs have come to a deal on a possible deal that wouldn’t involve Navas as Louis van Gaal turns his eyes to Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen as his new permanent goalkeeper.

However with transfers, until we see someone on a plane or with a new jersey and togs on, we’ll hold our judgement.
