A petition has been launched to ban Michael Owen from commentating

Harsh?

Robert Redmond

Michael Owen polarises viewers.

People seem to either dislike listening to the BT Sport pundit commentate on a game, or really dislike listening to him.

Owen doesn’t always help himself, and sometimes makes observations that are blindingly obvious. Like when he said when Manchester City don’t score, they don’t win.

While the former Manchester United and Liverpool striker’s recent criticism of Roberto Firmino was difficult to fathom.GettyImages-472746266However, is Owen really so bad that he should be banned from the gantry?

Does he not get an overly tough time from fans in comparison to some ex-footballers turned pundits?

Well, not according to the creator of this petition, which already has over 600 signatures. Launched on website Change.org on Friday afternoon, the petition has set a goal of 1000 signatures.
