It was confirmed after the game that Duff, who had been yellow carded earlier in the night, was shown a red card after the game.
Jake Mulraney's free-kick was the match winner for Jon Daly's side, with Duff praising the midfielder after the game.
"Hats off to them. Good three points for Jon," said Duff on LOI TV.
"A great free-kick for Jake Mulraney, he's a game-changer, and that's why they moved heaven and earth to get him in the club so yeah, as good as we were, they came away with the three points."
"It was as good a performance as you'll see at Richmond Park from a Shelbourne team but unfortunately we haven't got anything from the game."
