The Dubliner is back

“It’s now or never. Every fight is my last fight.”

Stephen Ormond hasn’t been in the ring since April and he is having withdrawal symptoms.

The WBO European Lightweight champion puts his belt on the line on Valentine’s Day when he heads for Wolverhampton to trade blows with Terry Flanagan. One more win, and Ormond is looking at a world title shot.

And, in this brilliant interview from Irish-Boxing.com, the Irishman is relishing the challenge after his last fight was cancelled for injury. A nice break at Christmas has only increased his appetite and Ormond talks about how Flanagan is in his way as the 31-year-old seeks world glory.

“Three weeks off have been brilliant to me,” he told Irish-Boxing.com. “I feel great now, I’m hungry, mad to get into it.

“One fight away now [from a world title shot]. This is a big fight for me. But no pressure, I’m just going to get in there and enjoy it because I haven’t fought in ages, I just want to get in there and fight. I just can’t wait at this stage, I’m itching for it. I’m ready to rumble.

“I don’t care if it’s in the backyard, I don’t care where it is. Put it out there in the car park and we’ll have it. That’s how I feel at the moment. I just want to fight.”
