VIDEO: Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne’s brutal stoppage wins him world title

Australia's first ever world heavyweight title!

What a tremendous victory this was by Lucas Browne.

The Australian heavyweight looked down and out in his fight with WBA (regular) champion Ruslan Chagaev.

The Aussie boxer was downed with a huge left, suffered a bad cut and was then battered by the Uzbekistani in the sixth round.

But ‘Big Daddy’, who is promoted by Ricky Hatton, staged an absolutely incredible comeback to claim the belt in emphatic fashion and cause a huge upset at the Colosseum Sport Hall in Grozny, Russia.

The former MMA fighter came out swinging and floored Chagaev, then proceeded to hammer away at his opponent until the referee dived in to stop the contest in the 10th round.

Browne has become the first Australian to hold a heavyweight belt – although it’s the so-called ‘regular’ version of the WBA belt. Britain’s Tyson Fury currently holds the ‘unified’ version.

What a finish to the fight this was by the unbeaten Sydney native.

He could be facing the likes of Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua in the near future…
