Tyson is staring down the barrel of a UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) charge alleging the presence of a banned substance.
This news, broken by the BBC comes just a day after the heavyweight world champion announced he was set to launch legal proceedings against Ukad after he was charged with a doping offence by the agency in June. Fury’s team have denied the claim that he had taken the banned substance.
The charge related to a urine sample he gave in May 2015, seven months before his heavyweight title-winning performance against Wladimir Klitschko. The sample reportedly contained traces of the banned substance nandrolone, which is an anabolic steroid. Fury was provisionally suspended in June, but that suspension has been lifted pending a hearing.
The 27-year-old was expected to face Klitschko again in Manchester in July, but an ankle injured forced the fight to be postponed.
Fury’s cousin and fellow pugilist Hughie has also been charged.
