Twenty years on and an Irish boxer is going to fight a Eubank once again

Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan has agreed terms with WBA Interim champion

Kevin McGillicuddy

Is it really twenty years?

We had to do a double take this morning as we checked our record books for the first time that Steve Collins stepped into a ring to face Chris Eubank.

The Dubliner took a famous win over the Englishman to lift the WBO super-middleweight title in March of 1995 in Cork, with Collins also securing the bragging rights when both men also met in rematch which Collins won by split-decision.

And now twenty years on from that excitement in Millstreet, another Irishman is set to take the ring against a Eubank.

According to Irish-Boxing.com Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan will face Chris Eubank Jr on December 12 and the fight will be confirmed after O’Sullivan’s latest bout in America tonight.

The middleweight is facing David Toribio later today in Massachusetts, and he is believed to have agreed a deal to face the Englishman towards the end of this year.
