Tyson Fury defeated Dereck Chisora after forcing his opponent to retire before the 11th round of a grinding contest

Fury’s powerful jabs were too much for Chisora, who faded badly and rarely troubled the Manchester boxer. A cut above Chisora’s eye proved significant enough for the ringside doctor to twice look at it between rounds.

A picture (above) tweeted by boxing correspondent Gareth A. Davies of bored ring girls Sophie Rose and Stephanie Holland summed up the tedium of a lacklustre bout.

Following another steady pummeling in the 10th round, Chisora remained in his seat. The win sees Fury confirmed as the number one contender for Wladimir Klitschko’s WBO heavyweight belt.
