We’ve seen some powerful right hands in our time, but this one is right up there with the best.
Miguel Marriaga showed why timing, speed and some good old fashioned brute force make a potent cocktail.
The featherweight is making quite a name for himself in the division for his knock out power and this latest KO of Guy Robb hasn’t done his stock any harm.
Coming into the fight, Robb was on an 11-fight unbeaten streak and looked to be carrying on with his impressive form, bossing the early rounds.
It took some time for the Marriaga (24-1 with 20 KOs) to find his range and start imposing himself on the fight.
But it was in the sixth round when he made his impressive power felt and in one shot all of Robb’s boxing ability and good form counted for nothing.
The Columbian feinted a left job, creating a small opening, and followed up with a massive overhand right that his opponent didn’t see coming until well after it had found its target.
It was thrown with such speed and ferocity that Robb had absolutely no chance and didn’t even react until he was on his way down to the canvas.
What a shot it was…

Marriaga is now well on the march for a world title with that impressive stoppage which earned him the WBO’s NABO belt on the night.
He is not the WBO’s number three ranked featherweight after jumping up the rankings and the victory looks like it could open doors for the big-punching South American.
