The sight no one wanted to see at Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather screenings

Everyone feared this possibility

Ben Kiely

Everyone had hoped this kind of video wouldn’t emerge from any Conor McGregor fight.

It’s tough enough being a combat sports fan when the detractors of the art form stubbornly try to tell you how wrong it is.

They say it’s not a real sport, but just another way for ‘sick and twisted’ individuals to feed their violence fetish.

They disregard the technicality, skill, dedication, athleticism and everything else that makes fighting one of the most intriguing sports in the world and instead pass it off as two thugs fist-fighting.

They say the macho brutality does nothing more than encourage loutish behaviour and that part is hard to defend when actual evidence such as this pops up surrounding the biggest combat sports event of 2017.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, this brawl took place at a screening of Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather in a Manchester cinema at 5:30 am.

Vue cinemas, who held this screening, were forced to release a statement after the footage emerged. It’s worth noting that the company held a screening in Dublin which featured no reported brawls or violent incidents.

“Cinemas had increased security, strict access policies and procedures and strict alcohol policies in place. We can confirm there was one incident which took place. The safety and security of our staff and customers remains our top priority at all times.”

The police were called and the incident ended without any reported major injuries to those involved.
