The internet at its very best to tell you the story of Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao

The Fight of the Century it might not have been but it definitely had all the hype it deserved anyway.

Floyd Mayweather’s defensive masterclass might well have underwhelmed a few but there was no getting away from the fact that this was a huge night for sport in the globe.

And, after a fittingly bizarre pre-fight that would’ve had you believing you were still drunk, Mayweather and Pacquiao actually started to fight.

Well, just before that, one order of business first.

Manny Pacquiao had plenty of energy early on and, despite Mayweather still scoring the heaviest, the Filipino landed the heaviest.

Pacquiao was the crowd favourite, the underdog always is, and when he looked to catch Mayweather again, the majority had already scored him to win.

But for those seldom successes from PacMan, Mayweather was breezing in typical Mayweather counter fashion.

And that quick left was able to hurt Manny a few times.

Still, some people were tuning in bemused that they were being forced to watch welterweights.

The fight wore on and Mayweather’s elusiveness become a source of consternation. Pacquiao couldn’t hit him when he was running out of time and the people were not impressed.

But Mayweather showed he wasn’t afraid to take it either and he even taunted Pacquiao in a ‘ain’t so bad’ Rocky style manner.

And, although boos met Mayweather’s celebration, he didn’t seem to care.

Thankfully, Pier Morgan was there to clear it up and he stuck his neck on the line too with a bold statement.

And, finally, Niall Horan was able to illuminate what had just happened.

Pacquiao might’ve done all the chasing, but the stats speak for themselves. There was a clear winner.
