Snoop Dogg has put his beloved commentary gig for Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in serious jeopardy.
The UFC didn’t hire Snoop Dogg because of his fight knowledge and objectivity, but taking shots at the promotion’s greatest star after one of his greatest feats is surely overstepping the mark.
Conor McGregor took on one of the greatest boxers ever in his professional debut and while he was comprehensively beaten by Floyd Mayweather, no one with more than half a brain cell thought he was embarrassed in defeat. There’s no shame in being beaten by the best, and Mayweather is right up there.
Those who said he wouldn’t land a punch were forced to eat their words as McGregor took the first three rounds of the fight. His stance-switching, the unusual angles he attacked from and that revelatory jab gave McGregor success early on and both warriors stepped up to provide fans with an entertaining scrap.

Some rival fighters on the UFC’s roster were quick to criticise McGregor’s performance and celebrate his loss, but the vast majority of the MMA community had nothing but praise for ‘the Notorious’.
Snoop Dogg, who has gained quite the combat sports following from his work on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender series, went too far with his reaction to the fight though. A video of him talking shit about McGregor after he came up short against the future Hall of Famer began doing the rounds on Sunday.
While being happy about Mayweather bowing out of his sport on such a high note is perfectly acceptable, saying “Fuck that motherfucking punk-ass McGregor, you bitch! Fuck him!” really isn’t.
Coming after the ‘crying like a bitch’ criticism of Daniel Cormier, who wept inside the Octagon following his knockout loss to Jon Jones, Dogg’s latest move has UFC welterweight Alan Jouban fed up.

Fair point from Jouban. Being an MMA commentator without knowing much about the sport is one thing, but making nasty comments about two of the greatest fighters’ to ever grace an Octagon while being on the company’s payroll should really have repercussions.
