‘She’s a princess, knock her out’ – Jessica McCaskill’s corner felt Katie Taylor was there for the taking

Rick Ramos, Jessica McCaskill’s head trainer, was caught on Sky Sports cameras last night encouraging his fighter to throw a ‘f**king missile’ at WBA female lightweight champion Katie Taylor.

The Bray native extended her professional record to 8-0 with a 97-92, 97-92, 98-91 unanimous decision win over the American in her maiden title defence.

With McCaskill trailing heading into the final round, Ramos encouraged the Chicagoan to go for the knockout, labelling Taylor a princess in the process.

“Last round, short shots, hands up, walk in behind the jab, that’s all you got to do,” said Ramos.

“If you see something, f**king throw it. Throw it, sit on it, close the gap and f**king throw it.

“They’re not going to give us a decision…. hit her with a f**king missile so we can go home, that’s it.

“We came all the way over here, she don’t want to fight, she’s f**king, she’s a princess, knock her out. Let’s go.”

Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn said after the win that the champion will look to rest for the next four months before targeting a return to the ring in Dublin during the Spring.

“I’d like to bring Katie to Dublin next. It would be a shame not to fight in Dublin. I don’t think it would make a lot of sense not to fight in Dublin,” he told RTÉ Sport.

“It would give Katie the chance to have Christmas and January off which I think she needs”

“The popularity, we’ve seen it in England and in Wales, has been incredible. If we can bring a unification fight, we’d love to do it.

“April would work really well because it would give Katie the chance to have Christmas and January off which I think she needs.”
